We Specialize in small group, High School/College, and Youth Athlete Training 

Our goal is to build athletes that are stronger, faster and more prepared than their competition.  To do this we look at ourselves as teachers and educate our athletes on how to prepare their body, how to execute exercises and eventually how to push intensities.

Sports Performance Academy

Our Academy is designed to fit the needs of dedicated high school athletes. All aspects of training will be covered from strength, speed, power, conditioning and injury prevention.

We believe in a long term approach to athletic development and our programs are designed with that in mind. We will take you from where you are at today and progress you through a personalized program to get you where you need to be.

Preparation Program (Middle School)

Our youth program is for athletes ages 12-14 who are looking to set a solid foundation for years of training to come. We train our youth athletes at a pace and intensity that is appropriate for their developing bodies and do not sacrifice health for performance.

We strongly believe in a long term athletic development approach to training. Our only goal is to set a foundation of quality, not quantity, in their movement and strength skill.

Our college program is tailored to fit your needs and your schedule. Whether you are in town for the off-season or needing in-season training we will work with you to structure a program to meet your goals.

Nutrition

Nutrition can be a skill that sets you apart from your competition. We are here to help guide you through the maze of nutrition information and help you find a plan that maximizes your training and recovery.

We can help design protocols for those needing to gain weight/muscle mass, lose weight/maintain muscle mass as well as game day nutrition and recovery nutrition.

Who We Are

Derek began his fitness career as a personal trainer at a local gym. He then held a position as the Wellness Director at local Physical Therapy clinic where he designed and implement training programs for the patients coming out of rehab.

"The experience in the physical therapy field was a huge learning experience for me. Too many trainers (I used to be one of them) don't have the experience and in-depth knowledge of injury mechanisms, anatomy, mechanics or physiology. I learned early on that it's not only about squatting and lifting big heavy things, its about who should be doing what and how to modify exercises for those with existing or past injuries. Understanding the adaptations we go all through, whether that be from sports or lifestyle, and how those make us all different have played a major role in my programming design for all my clients and classes. I would not be where I am today without the experience I had in the clinic"

Taking his experience in the Physical Therapy field combined with his athletic background and his extensive background in strength and conditioning Derek started Decater Performance near his hometown in Issaquah Washington.

Once rated the number 2 prospect in the country by Baseball America, having played in the college world series and being a Pac-10 Freshman All-American explains Derek's other passion, training baseball players.

"The stresses these athletes put on their body are unique and require special attention. They are unlike any other athletes out there and understanding their training needs has led me all over the country finding answers. It's a challenge but that's what makes it worth it."
